This cutting edge Conference focuses on connecting law firms to the tools they need, and will be held at the U.T. Conference Center in Knoxville on April 12 and 13. Now in its thirteenth year, this landmark event promises to be the largest, most interactive Expo to date, providing a rare opportunity to network with others and witness the latest and greatest products and services available to the legal community today. This perennial favorite has been referred to as "the one yearly event where the entire legal community congregates, shares ideas and gains the knowledge necessary to run a large firm or a small/solo practice". “Registration is very strong,” said Marsha S. Watson, Executive Director of the Knoxville Bar Association. “Local law firms are looking for case management and cyber security solutions for their law practices. Sessions have been designed to help lawyers improve their professional skills through quality continuing legal education and the opportunity to hear from high caliber speakers.” The Expo planning committee has put tremendous effort into making sure the programs offer value to Knoxville law firms regardless of their size. The focus of the Expo has evolved to encompass law office management and technology within the business of law. There will be twenty-two different educational sessions available on Thursday afternoon and throughout the day on Friday. The Expo will bring together more than three hundred lawyers, law students, IT staff, legal administrators, paralegals and other support staff to learn about staying competitive and how to secure client data. Industry experts and longtime ABA TECHSHOW faculty will be on hand to discuss what the future holds for the legal profession. There will be panel discussions that will offer candid discussions about the practice management and business development topics and seasoned pros will discuss technology and cyber security options. The agenda is based on input and suggestions from past participants and the planning committee has ensured the presentations, panel discussions and idea exchanges will provide education and networking to lawyers and law firm staff from large, midsize and small firms. The theme for the 2018 KBA Law Practice Today Expo is “Practice Innovation”. Program content will be delivered in an energetic and engaging environment and educational sessions will be offered Thursday from 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Judicial Roundtable luncheon is one of the many highlights of the Law Practice Today Expo, and radio and TV talk show host Hallerin Hilton Hill will be the featured speaker. Hill will discuss how he started out mentoring Chris Blue as a teen to managing his legal and business affairs since being crowned champion of “The Voice” in May 2017. More than twenty-five of our local, state, and federal court judges will be participating in the judicial roundtable luncheon. A FREE pass to the Exhibit Hall is available to any member of a local law firm or anyone affiliated with the Knoxville legal community, but registration in advance is required for anyone interested in a box lunch compliments of The Trust Company. The Exhibit Hall will feature 35+ legal service providers who share in the goal of helping local law firms face the future with a renewed vision, a sharper, more focused strategy, and improved performance.
