The Knoxville Bar Association anticipates a substantial increase in participation from attorneys and law office staff in the Annual Law Practice Today Expo. This cutting edge Conference focuses on connecting law firms to the tools they need, and will be held at the U.T. Conference Center in Knoxville on April 11 and 12. Now in its fourteenth year, this landmark event promises to be the largest, most interactive Expo to date, providing a rare opportunity to network with others and witness the latest and greatest products and services available to the legal community today. This perennial favorite has been referred to as "the one yearly event where the entire legal community congregates, shares ideas and gains the knowledge necessary to run a large firm or a small/solo practice". “Registration is very strong,” said Marsha S. Watson, Executive Director of the Knoxville Bar Association. “Tracks have been specifically designed for litigators, transactional lawyers, and those who want to understand law firm marketing. Seasoned practitioners and legal industry experts will offer practical tips on managing a law practice regardless of size or type of practice.Sessions have been designed to help lawyers improve their professional skills through quality continuing legal education and the opportunity to hear from high caliber speakers.” The focus of the Expo has evolved to encompass law office management and technology within the business of law. There will be twenty-two different educational sessions available on Thursday afternoon and throughout the day on Friday. The Expo will bring together more than three hundred lawyers, law students, IT staff, legal administrators, paralegals and other support staff to learn about staying competitive and how to secure client data. Industry experts and longtime ABA TECHSHOW faculty will be on hand to discuss what the future holds for the legal profession. There will be panel discussions that will offer candid discussions about the practice management and business development topics and seasoned pros will discuss technology and research options. The agenda is based on input and suggestions from past participants and the planning committee has ensured the presentations, panel discussions and idea exchanges will provide education and networking to lawyers and law firm staff from large, midsize and small firms. The theme for the 2019 KBA Law Practice Today Expo is “Technology & Management Best Practices for a Modern Law Office”. Program content will be delivered in an energetic and engaging environment and educational sessions will be offered Thursday from 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Judicial Roundtable luncheon is one of the many highlights of the Law Practice Today Expo, and more than twenty-five of our local, state, and federal court judges will participate. The keynote speaker is Knox County Mayor Glenn Reynolds who will share highlights of his personal and professional successes, and some of the lessons he’s learned.
