KBA Virtual Wellness Series
Introducing the NEW Take Care Tuesdays!
One focus of the KBA has always been to help its members be successful. However, the KBA understands the difficult decisions members are making every day during the COVID-19 crisis. To help assist members during this time, the KBA developed several special programs as part of a virtual series called Take Care Tuesday.

Virtual Social Hour
5:00 p.m.
The first in the Take Care Tuesday series was a virtual social hour on Tuesday, April 7, at 5 p.m. This informal gathering on Zoom allowed members to connect virtually and the highlight was a Quarantini cocktail or cocktail from KBA member Dawn Coppock.

This live Zoom webinar featured Judge McMillan discussing matters of importance to local practitioners as well as an opportunity for KBA members to ask Judge McMillan questions about the operation of the courts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

WEBINAR: CARES Act to the Rescue - What Law Firms Need to Know about SBA Loan Programs

This CLE program covered the small business loan provisions of the CARES Act and how those provisions affect law firms. The CLE focused on the Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”), which expands Section 7(a) of the Small Business Act by providing forgivable loans to businesses with under 500 employees. The CLE also discussed a second loan option for businesses, the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (“EIDL”), which is expanded/relaxed under Section 7(b) of the CARES Act and is available to small businesses, including law firms, that have sustained an economic injury from COVID-19. The program featured late-breaking updates on draws that attorneys can receive.

COVID-19 has everyone making changes to their daily routines, washing their hands more often, practicing social distancing, and even quarantining themselves by working from home. All these changes can be overwhelming, but KBA members can take some simple steps to take to keep yourself mentally and physically healthy. Eddie and Bridget Reymond of Eddie’s Health Shoppe shared tips on managing stress and ways to boost your immune system.

Cinco de Mayo Virtual Social Hour
Stay-at-home orders have turned parents into teachers and homes into offices. In the past, we were busy meeting friends after work or with other activities, but these days we have fewer distractions. A virtual social hour was a perfect way to encourage social distancing while giving people a much-needed outlet to socialize.
