HABITAT BUILD 2020 | VOLUNTEER
Your help is needed! Help the KBA BUILD Habitat House #9!
Celebrating 25+ years building with Habitat for Humanity
The Knoxville Bar Association needs your help to make the 2020 KBA Habitat Home a reality for a Knoxville family. Since 1994, the members of the KBA have been responsible for building eight Habitat homes in the Knoxville area. It has become part of the KBA tradition and is an accomplishment that all of us can be proud.
Before our volunteers can begin swinging hammers, there is one other critical component that the KBA must put in place. As a covenant partner with Habitat, the KBA has raised $20,000, which is one-half of the cost of the materials to build this home. The KBA’s financial commitment is not a hand-out, but a hand-up to a hard-working family. The family who will ultimately live in the home we build must put in 500 hours of sweat equity building other people’s homes before they are even eligible for their own Habitat home. Additionally, the family will take on a 20-year mortgage in order to cover the other half of the cost of construction.
Our efforts over the past 25 years have provided homes for 8 families and we are so pleased to be partnering with First Presbyterian Church on house #9. We will be splitting the construction duties with their volunteers.
100% of the funds raised!
The response to the KBA’s request for contributions to support building another Habitat house in our community was rapid and remarkable. We are thankful to all of the KBA members who contributed to this campaign.
Blitz Day set for Saturday, September 12. Learn more.
